US Mint 2010-dated coins are the attention grabbers in the latest sales report, although the buying public has already spent most of their money on them which has pressured weekly demand.
2010 Boy Scouts Silver Dollars are among the youngest of the 2010 releases, but the end of their sales is approaching the quickest as the uncirculated coins have already sold out. Fence sitters are left with the proof version or must sign up on a waiting list in the hopes that an older uncirculated order will be canceled.
330,602 of the available 350,000 Scouts coins are gone, leaving just 19,398 as of Sunday. There are probably just several thousand left as of this writing. For more on the BSA pieces, read the article Boy Scouts Dollars Hit 94.5% Maximum.
Interest in 2010 Disabled American Veterans Silver Dollars picked up slightly last week. 2,696 more were purchased, bringing the total to 196,469, or 56.1% of the maximum. The coins will pass 200,000 very soon, adding to an already respectable silver commemorative level.
In an unmatched historic feat, bullion American Silver Eagles have topped 11 million before the end of April. Silver prices initially dipped this week, which will sales more interesting to follow. The eagles are at 2,170,000 this month. 348,000 more are needed to match their record breaking April 2009 performance.
Bullion American Gold Eagle sales will not best their April rally of last year. The current pace has brought them to 53,500 for the month — much slower than what it took to hit 147,500 in April 2009. The eagles will also have new competition beginning today with the release of the 2010-dated bullion American Buffalo gold coins.
First Spouse Gold Coins experienced yet another sales decline despite their price reductions last week. The 24 karat coins climbed 404 as a group last week, down from the prior 588 which was lower than the previous 1,238. Their premiums are more attractive now at least. Not only are they marked down $25 from early last week, but gold has since surged with prices at 2010 highs. These factors could help boost sales and break their declining trend.
Finally, sales figures for 2010 Hot Springs National Park Quarter Bags and Rolls debut this week. With 1000-coin bags no longer offered by the Mint, interest in the 100-coin bags and two-roll sets increased. For their opening numbers, refer to the tables below. For an in depth review, read the article entitled Hot Springs Park Quarter Bags and Rolls Sales Debut.
