Last week was the busiest in 2010 for US Mint product releases. This week most of the debuting US Mint sales figures are available for those launches, including numbers for Abraham Lincoln Dollars and three of the four America the Beautiful Quarters® products.
As one of the most anticipated issues this year, Lincoln Presidential Dollars debuted atop their field with sales of 34,180 (D) rolls and 33,471 (P) rolls for a total of 67,651. That figure handily beats recent Presidential dollars and their opening sales. In fact, the four-day total is already higher than rolls of each of the 2010 Presidential Dollars with the exception of the Fillmore Dollars which launched first and way back on February 18.
2010 Proof Silver Eagle sales debuted at 273,212 after three days. As the most sought after collector coin in 2010, sales topped the opening of the previous 2008 issue which recorded sales of 185,232 during its first five days of availability.
In a surprise, reported sales for new Mount Hood quarter bags and rolls was significantly lower as compared to past issues and their debuting performance. The following chart illustrates:

The Mount Hood Forest quarter bags and rolls were one of the products that had been erroneously reported as sold out, which the US Mint apologized later for and indicated they indeed were still available. It is possible the US Mint has made all the corrections for customer orders, but had not updated final sales.
Additionally, some collectors may be opting out from buying quarter bags and rolls now that America the Beautiful Coin Sets are available. Speaking of the new sets, two of the three debuting set sales are in:
- Hot Springs National Park Quarter Three-Coin Set opened with sales of 10,684
- 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Circulating Coin Set came in debuting sales of 5,684
The third new 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Uncirculated Coin Set was issued on Tuesday, with the first round of sales figures expected next week.
With the Thanksgiving holiday nearly here and buyers away from home or otherwise celebrating, next week sales figures may show some pullbacks.
