The latest round of US Mint sales includes debuting figures for Mary Todd Lincoln First Spouse Gold Coins, roaring Proof Silver Eagle advances and robust numbers for Proof Gold Eagles, annual sets, and Mount Hood quarters.
Mary Todd Lincoln First Spouse Gold Coins were issued on Thursday, December 2. Their four-day sales debut came in at a lower-than-expected 5,505, split between 3,635 proof and 1,870 uncirculated. Based on anticipated demand, their mintage limits were raised to 20,000 as compared to the 15,000 limits of the previous 2010 issues.
At least for now, the 24-karat Mary Todd Lincoln First Spouse Gold Coins are not completely living up to expectations. While their debut sales registered higher than many newer First Spouse Gold Coins leaving the gate, they started slower than the most recent Buchanan’s Liberty First Spouse Gold Coins.

Collectors of the series hope for continued low numbers as their coins will likely see higher values down the road as a result.
In two weeks and three days, 2010 Proof Silver Eagle sales reached 707,704. That already makes them the ninth best selling issue in the series which began in 1986. Buyers grabbed another 434,492 since the last US Mint sales report. For more on the coins, read CoinNews.net article: Proof Silver Eagle Sales Jump Past Previous Issues.
2010 Proof Gold Eagles rallied nicely after dipped during the seven days ending November 21. The US Mint skipped a week in publishing sales figures, which means the latest numbers include two weeks of data. However, new Proof Gold Eagle sales show more than a doubling of those in the previous report. The one-half ounce performed the best, gaining 2,088 versus 334.
Mount Hood quarter bags and rolls picked up compared to their dry opening. The two-roll sets debuted at 7,495. They advanced another 20,899 in the two weeks since. The Philadelphia 100-coin bags started at 1,543. They added 3,490. Finally, the Denver 100-coin bags opened at 1,465 and have since climbed another 3,355.
