Sales of the San Francisco minted American Silver Eagle Coin Set passed 200,000 on Monday, just three days before its sales deadline.
The coin set, which includes a 2012-S Reverse Proof American Silver Eagle and a 2012-S Proof American Silver Eagle packed within a lacquer presentation case, is sold by the United States Mint for $149.95.
Demand has shot higher for the sets in recent days. A total of 8,752 were purchased between Thursday and Friday, marking the biggest one-day sales following its release on June 7, 2012. Collectors purchased more than 25,000 over the weekend. That was the best pick-up since the weekend after its release.
Many collectors expect a flurry of orders in the last few days, with the final one being the day of most interest. The sets go off sale on Thursday, July 5, at 5:00 PM ET. After that, collectors will no longer have an option to get the two unique coins directly from the U.S. Mint.

Now at 217,351* units ordered.
Anything under 250K would be great. Probably looking at 325K though.
Now at 245,131* units ordered. You might be right on the $$$ Jack.
I predicted 150,00 or less – I guess the economy’s better than people have been saying.
Today is the day that the dealers will hit the sight with large orders. It will be a big “pop” in units ordered today. I ordered mine yesterday just in case the sight goes down. I can hardly wait to see the street value on these when the final number is posted.
The mint website is now showing an October 31st shipping date… What is up with that??
Answer to Oct 31st ship date:
Order placed at 175k or less appear have a ship date of 7/27, over 175k of 9/29 and 10/31.
Implications:
1. First 175k will have superior resell opportunity ie First strike and first to market.
2. Depending on final mintage, it could be a huge miss for Dealers ordering large quanities at end of run. Personal opinion- Resell prices will be weak if mintage exceeds 290k to 300k.

Total units ordered will be updated on Friday, July 6, 2012 by 3 p.m. (ET) to reflect the last day of the ordering window.
I hope it wont get much higher than the last # I posted. Thanks RonnieBGood for the info.
Jeje with Ross… Good for you! I am happy with my one. There are lots of neat details for these coins. Not just the rev proof, but also a first proof silver eagle bearing the “S” mark. There are already some at ebay for $182.45 with 2 bids, thats 20% increase right there (without shipping and fees of course…). I doubt the final mintage will be over 370k. So, right now they should be 5th and 6th lowest mintages for the silver eagles. Sorting silver american eagle mintages: 1995-W, Proof – 30,125 2011-S, Uncirc – 100,00 2011-P, Rev Proof –… Read more »
Big deal! 251,302 sets will be minted with them already on e-bay for a price of $182.45. Bet they won’t fly off the shelf as the lack of interest with no limits on purchases and the opportunity to buy them for 30 days indicates. Just another bogus move by the mint. Any whiners out there complaining they sold out and they couldn’t get one? Nope! They will prove to be not even worth their weight in the price of two ounces of silver.
Lopital: 1986 87 88 89 90 91 & 92 all bear the S mintmark for the Proof Silver Eagles.
What was the final mintage ? I got my 3 sets this week. What was the final count on the 2012 san francisco issue(with no mintmark)?
