Just two of the five 2013 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Bullion Coins from the United States Mint remain after two sold out this week and one sold out in September.
The three-inch, five ounce .999 pure silver series is enjoying stronger demand this year and particular strength in November.
For the year-to-date, U.S. Mint dealers have ordered 218,800 coins compared to last year’s annual total of 118,100 coins. Sales during the first three weeks in November are at 39,100 coins, which is the best total for a month since May 2011.
Newest to the sellout list is the 2013 Mount Rushmore Five Ounce Silver Bullion Coin, the last of this year’s releases with its launch date of Nov. 4, 2013. Today, its sales jumped 6,100 to top out at 35,000.
The U.S. Mint correctly anticipated higher demand for the Mount Rushmore coin since mintages for the previous three coins are 5,000 less at 30,000 each. One of those, the Fort McHenry Five Ounce Silver Bullion Coin, sold out this past Tuesday after rising 300 to 30,000. The first of this year’s coins to sell out was also the first released, the 2013 White Mountain Five Ounce Silver Bullion Coin.
Supporting the coins is fewer bullion American Silver Eagles to satisfy demand. This month the U.S. Mint has limited Silver Eagle sales to 500,000 a week as it directs silver blanks towards next year’s issue which launches on Jan. 13, 2014. This year’s one-ounce, .999 pure silver coins already hit an all-time sales record with more than 40 million sold.

These bullion coins are sold by the U.S. Mint to a network of authorized dealers who resell them for a bit over their melt value. Unlike the version for collectors with an uncirculated finish, they lack the "P" mint mark although they are also made at the Philadelphia Mint.
Numismatic versions selling briskly too.
After reading your article on November 22 about the Mt. Rushmore 5 Oz Silver Coins selling out I immediately went the US Mint’s Web Page. It was still listed so I placed an order. They shipped it out on November 25. That’s cutting it close.
This is the bullion one that they are talking about. Collector version is still available.
