Starting sales for this year’s 2014 United States Mint Uncirculated Coin Set about matched the debut performance of last year’s set, figures from the U.S. Mint show.
Released on Tuesday, May 13, the 2014 Mint Set with 28 uncirculated coins for $27.95 scored sales of 157,044 by Sunday, May 18. The previous set with the same number of coins and matching price kicked off with early opening sales of 157,783, or 739 more.
Sets since 2010 include 14 uncirculated coins struck at the U.S. Mint facility in Philadelphia and 14 uncirculated coins produced at the U.S. Mint facility in Denver. The coins are displayed in two folders with each holding:
- One Native American $1 Coin, Kennedy half-dollar, Roosevelt dime, Jefferson nickel and Lincoln penny
- The fifth annual issues of America the Beautiful Quarters (5 each)
- The eight annual issues of Presidential $1 Coins (4 each)

*Last year’s 2013 Mint Set remains available, advancing 4,583 in the latest weekly sales figures. The set from 2012 unexpectedly sold out, driving up demand in the secondary market with prices now more than double the U.S. Mint’s issue price. Its ending sales mark the lowest total since the 1962 Mint Set logged sales of 385,285.
