Demand climbed for commemorative coins honoring the 225th anniversary of the U.S. Marshals Service.
Buyers scooped up 12,487 during the coins’ fifth full week of release, advancing 69.5% from the prior week’s increase of 7,368. Stronger gains happened even with higher coin prices.
Starting 39-day sales total to 229,982 coins for a revenue haul of more than $17.5 million. Collectible proofs in gold and silver continued their 3-to-1 dominance over uncirculated editions.
U.S. Marshals gold coins logged notable growth, rising 1,678 compared to 429 previously.
Here’s a breakdown of overall weekly increases since the commemoratives launched on Jan. 29:
- Jan 29 to Feb 1: Starting 4-day sales reached 131,659 coins;
- Feb 2 to Feb 8: Weekly sales added 37,272 to 168,931 coins;
- Feb 9 to Feb 15: Weekly sales added 26,716 to 195,644 coins;
- Feb 16 to Feb 22: Weekly sales added 14,483 to 210,127 coins;
- Feb 23 to Mar 1: Weekly sales added 7,368 to 217,495 coins; and
- Mar 2 to Mar 8: Weekly sales added 12,487 to 229,982 coins
