The United States Mint last week started selling its 2015 Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set for $18.95. This short article presents a photo overview of the set of four clad dollars which scored six-day starting sales 110,863.
Inside the set are collector proof versions of the $1 coins commemorating Harry S. Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, and Lyndon B. Johnson. Proof coins feature frosted designs that contrast against mirror-like backgrounds, making them very popular with collectors.
A single lens holds the dollars, protecting them and making it easy to view both their sides and edges. Here is a photo that shows the obverse or heads side of the coins and their presidential portraits:
All Presidential dollars have a common reverse depicting a rendition of the Statue of Liberty. This next photo shows the coins’ reverses.
Edges of dollars have edge-incused lettering of the year of minting, the mint mark for the United States Mint facility of origin, and E PLURIBUS UNUM. The U.S. Mint in San Francisco strikes these coins so they have a ‘S’ mint mark.
All proof sets ship with a certificate of authenticity. The back of certificate also displays specifications of the four clad Presidential $1 Coins to include names of the designers and sculptors.
