The United States Mint kicked off sales today of two holiday-themed ornaments that hold uncirculated Kennedy half dollars. It has been nearly two decades since the U.S. Mint last offered ornamental products.
One of the ornaments is designed for young collectors, featuring the U.S. Mint’s Mighty Minters™ Eli, Layla, Timothy, and Kendra in "vibrant, digitally printed colors." The characters encircle the half dollar which is paired with a colorful United States Mint Seal.
The other ornament features a green, red, and silver toned wreath around a half dollar coupled with an official United States Mint Seal.
Each ornament is $24.95 and made entirely in the U.S.A. Other shared characteristics include an outer section composed in solid brass, an uncirculated Kennedy half dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint, and an attached cord or ribbon for hanging.
Obverse (heads) sides of each half dollar are not visible in their ornament.
For more information or to order, visit the Mint’s online section of holiday ideas, found here, or call 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).
The ornaments have no product limits but each has a household order limit of 15 pieces.
