Uncirculated 2019-P Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Five Ounce Silver Coins arrive encapsulated, set inside a protective outer box and include a U.S. Mint Certificate of Authenticity

The 2019-P Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Uncirculated Five Ounce Silver Coin follows earlier released quarters commemorating the same location. Both share a reverse (tails side) design emblematic of the national wilderness.

Mintage for the uncirculated coin is capped at 20,000 units. The strike marks the 50th in the Mint’s America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins™ series which debuted with five 2010-dated strikes. Five new strikes have been issued annually ever since with each celebrating a different site of national interest. The program will end with six more designs — 5 next year and one in 2021 — after which a site from each state, the District of Columbia and the five U.S. territories will have been honored.

Silver Coin Designs and Specifications

U.S. Mint Artistic Infusion Program Artist Emily Damstra created the design found on the reverse of the silver coin and companion quarter. The image shows a piloted drift boat on the rushing river. Around the scene we find trees and rock formations indicative of the Wilderness.

The above CoinNews photos show an uncirculated and proof Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness quarter for Idaho. The larger River of No Return Wilderness 5-ounce silver coin features the same design, but in a vapor blast uncirculated finish. It also has a flat or smooth edge compared to the reeded edge found on quarters.

Surrounding inscriptions include "RIVER OF NO RETURN," "WILDERNESS," "IDAHO," "2019," and "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Renata Gordon sculpted the design.

This CoinNews photo shows the first 2019-dated America the Beautiful coins of the quarter and 5-ounce series honoring Lowell National Historical Park in Massachusetts. It highlights the size difference between quarters and 5-ounce coins.

All coins from series offer the same obverse (head side) portrait of George Washington. The likeness of the first President of the United States is a familiar one as it initially appeared in 1932 on the circulating quarter dollar and it has been on the quarter, with some modest changes, ever since.

Around the John Flanagan portrait of Washington are inscriptions of "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "QUARTER DOLLAR." The ‘P’ mintmark indicates the coin was produced at the Philadelphia Mint.

How are these coins resold on ebay at about 30 dollars cheaper and free shipping?

chuck

domenic,
Are you sure you are not looking at the bullion ones (no “P”) versus the collector “P” ones?

Mike

Any thoughts on why this sold out and the other 2019 – P’s have not?
