Today, September 4, 2012, the United States Mint released the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Quarters Three-Coin Set.
This collector product marks the fourth of its kind this year and the fourteenth overall in the series of America the Beautiful Quarters Three-Coin Sets. These sets have appeared alongside the national park and national site featured America the Beautiful Quarters since their introduction in 2010.
Numismatists may place an order for the three-coin set right on the United States Mint website at http://catalog.usmint.gov/ for $9.95.
Within the Hawaii Volcanoes Quarters Three-Coin Set are three collector coins celebrating the national park located on the big island of Hawaii. One is an uncirculated quarter from the Denver Mint, another is an uncirculated quarter from the Philadelphia Mint and the final one is a proof quarter from the San Francisco Mint.
These three quarters are minted solely with coin collectors in mind as they are produced using a special process that results in more detail than other coins released into circulation.
All prior thirteen sets remain available from the U.S. Mint, which is atypical as collector products often are on sale for around a year at most. 2012-dated three-coin sets are especially unique as the quarters are placed on a more attractive card that display a scene of the national site honored, instead of the traditional U.S. Mint branded black and white card. Additionally, three-coin sets from 2010 and 2011 are priced $5 higher at $14.95.
The table below offers the latest unit sales figures for all released sets as of Monday, September 3, 2012.
