Original stated mintages for each of the five ounce coins were 25,000, but collector demand is an overriding factor controlling production. It would appear the U.S. Mint produced 15,000 of the Hawaii silver coin, and that could also be the case for the three other issues with sales below the level. As for the first released in 2012, the El Yunque silver coin above 16,000 in sales may have enjoyed a stronger production level at the time.
2013 America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins
In related coin news, the U.S. Mint said a mintage decision is currently holding off production of the 2013-dated collector coins. They had been listed on the U.S. Mint’s product schedule with at least general dates of release, but are now listed as to be determined. This year’s coins will feature reverse designs emblematic of:
- White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire,
- Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial in Ohio,
- Great Basin National Park in Nevada,
- Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine in Maryland and
- Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota
Also in the news, prices are expected to rise this year. The U.S. Mint published a notice in January saying prices would increase $15 to $244.95 per coin.
