2012 Native American $1 Coins were released in rolls and boxes on April 26 and then within bags on May 14.
Premiums for these $1 coin products are fairly significant when coupled with the standard shipping and handling charges of the United States Mint.
Yet, since these dollars are not produced for circulation and therefore will not be found within pocket change, collectors have little choice but to hand out the few extra bucks to acquire even one of the products from the Mint.
While 2012 Native American $1 Coin rolls are the least expensive, they actually carry the largest premium, followed by bags and then boxes. The following table highlights the various product prices and premiums.

The smaller boxes, bags and rolls have a single shipping and handling charge of $4.95 per order. To cut costs further, many collectors bundle products together in one purchase order. For example, if 25-coin rolls of Native American dollars were ordered along with several other U.S. Mint items, like the recently issued 2012 Proof Set, the entire order would get assessed a single $4.95 shipping and handling fee.
Excluding shipping and handling costs, percent premiums for 2012 Native American $1 Coin products are:
- 31.8% for the rolls,
- 12.0% for the 100-coin bags,
- 10.4% for the 250-coin boxes and
- 10.2% for the 500-coin boxes.
