On Thursday, October 18, 2012, the United States Mint released its first Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Set for this year.
Honoring President Arthur and Suffragist Alice Paul, debut sales for this year’s inaugural set were 1,025. Based on past releases since 2011, eventual sales should clock in around the 6,000 area, give or take several hundred. Since 2009, the sets are one of the few U.S. Mint products that are sold for more than one year and that does cloud the prediction.
Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Sets do have a collector fan base but it appears to be shrinking each year, as realized when looking at their recent sales.
