Collectors wishing to purchase US Mint coins for gifts have been given two deadline to ensure guaranteed delivery by Christmas. One of those dates is today, and the final ordering day is Friday.
"Please note that the United States Mint guarantees delivery by December 25, 2009, on any in-stock item, anywhere in the United States," the Mint states on its online Web store. "Order deadlines are December 7, 2009, for standard delivery and December 11, 2009, for express delivery. This guarantee does not apply to orders with credit card and billing issues."
Additionally, as a CoinNews article reminded in early November, all Braille products will go off sale on December 11, as the following Mint message indicates:
The 2009 Louis Braille Bicentennial Silver Dollar products must be issued by December 31st. In order to meet these requirements, the United States Mint is only accepting orders for these products until December 11th at 5:00 p.m. ET. Please note that all credit card and billing issues must be resolved prior to December 11th.
The coin products referenced in the notice all honor the 200th anniversary of the birth of Louis Braille, inventor of the Braille system for reading and writing by the blind and visually impaired. The four available, along with their prices and latest sales figures as of Sunday, Nov. 29, follow:
