The newly released Boy Scouts Silver Dollars were off to the races earning headlines, but other United States Mint coins picked up in pace also last week according to the latest sales report.
Demand trended higher, with silver coins making the most noise as every US Mint silver product clamored with week-over-week gains.
The 2010 Boy Scouts coins reached 214,673 in less than a week. Collectors purchased 144,732 proofs and 69,941 uncirculated dollars. With a touch over 61% of the total allotted 350,000 mintage accounted for, it would appear these commemoratives are destined for a sell out.
The 2010 Disabled American Veterans Silver Dollars rallied to outperform their last weekly gains. Proofs advanced 10,007 versus 9,098 and the uncirculated option improved 4,677 compared to 3,334. The nearly five week sales total stands at 181,052.
Added to the sales tables is the 2010 Millard Fillmore Presidential $1 Coin and Abigail First Spouse Medal Set. 2,362 were purchased between Friday and Sunday.
Proof Buffalo gold coins sold out, the US Mint announced on Monday. Their latest tally is 49,388. It would seem likely that their final mintage should be very near 50,000. Joining the sold out ranks is the 2009 Presidential Uncirculated Dollar Coin Set with sales of 105,059 — the same as last week.
2010 Presidential $1 Coin Proof Sets got spun around and proceeded in the wrong direction. Sales actually declined 31,436 to 329,774. The Mint does not explain such adjustments, but the change is probably an accounting correction.
Bullion American Gold Eagles enjoyed their best month of 2010. March sales are at 102,000 for an increase of 37,500 over last week’s numbers.
Bullion American Silver Eagles were frozen at 1.9 million since March 15 until figures were pushed higher on Sunday and then again later Wednesday. The two increases brought the month up to 3,381,000, capping both the best March ever and the best first quarter ever. (Read Silver Eagles Rally, Capping Quarterly Sales Record.)
