Demand trended mostly lower for U.S. Mint numismatic products, according to the latest sales stats. There are a few highlights to mention, however, including the debuting sales figures for the 2010 Presidential $1 Coin Uncirculated Sets. The bullion American Silver Eagles also passed and are nearing another milestone.
First, to the uncirculated Presidential sets which the Mint issued Tuesday, April 13… Their debuting Tuesday to Sunday sales of 23,962 were a touch on the mild side considering that they include the popular Lincoln dollar. They did pass the opening sales of the 2009 sets, which came in at 12,780. But those numbers were also earned between a shorter time — Thursday to Sunday.
2010 Boy Scouts Silver Dollars dazzled once again. Their weekly sales of 22,261 were only slightly behind the previous week’s 23,875. Total sales reached 312,653, leaving 37,347 left in Mint inventories. More than that amount were sold over the two prior weeks. Will a sell out now occur within two weeks? Instead of rehashing further numbers, read Tuesday’s CoinNews’ article on this subject entitled Boy Scouts Silver Dollars Nearing Sell Out.
There is little surprise in seeing demand decline for First Spouse Gold Coins after their $25 price increases last Wednesday. The 24 karat coins advanced 588, which was less than half of the prior 1,238 gain.
2010 Lincoln Cent Two Roll Sets sales increased 31,953 to 77,436. Their debuting sales figures from last week’s report were 45,483. Americans do not seem to be attracted to them as much as the 2009 Lincoln cent rolls. Those sprinted out of the gate much faster.
Finally, American Silver Bullion Eagles jumped 1,317,500 since the last Mint report, reaching 1,756,000 for March. They have hit 10,779,500 for the year and it appears that they will reach the 11+ million milestone before the end of the month. The 10.7 million figure is already enough to make the first four months of 2010 the best ever for the series.
