The United States Mint today updated its schedule to include release dates for coins and products that will launch in June and July. A number of popular offerings will be available in proof, uncirculated, silver and gold.
Several new coin designs will be featured with additional America the Beautiful Quarter Product releases. Also in the works is the next Presidential $1 coin and corresponding First Spouse Gold piece. Then there is the 24 karat 2010 Buffalo Gold Proof coin.
Plus, several annual sets will arrive, including the 2010 Proof Set and the 2010 Mint Uncirculated Set. These are always extremely most popular with collectors — sales of the 2009 sets have already combined to over 2.2 million.
A listing of the upcoming releases with dates follows:

Aside from the annual sets, perhaps the most anticipated release will be the 2010 American Buffalo Gold Proof Coin. The bullion version was issued on April 19, and has been doing exceptional in sales — thanks in part, no doubt, to recent record high gold prices. Last year’s proof piece sold out at 49,388, according to the latest Mint figures.
Notably absent again from the new Mint list are dates for the proof and uncirculated American Gold and Silver Eagle coins.
An important point for collectors to remember is that the coming releases of several products also indicate sales of their companion 2009-dated versions will end around the same time, if not sooner.
Beyond the month of July, the Mint provides only general time lines of upcoming product launches. However, a few more have been indicated through other channels, like all of the circulating 2010 quarter release dates.
America the Beautiful Quarters are prominently featured in multiple offerings. 2010 is the inaugural year for the new series that will run until at least 2021. Through the 11 years, the reverse side of quarter-dollars will feature 56 differing designs with themes emblematic of 48 National Parks, two U.S. Fish and Wildlife sites, and six U.S. Forest Service sites.
This year’s coins feature designs of:
- Hot Springs National Park in the state of Arkansas
- Yellowstone National Park in the state of Wyoming
- Yosemite National Park in the state of California
- Grand Canyon National Park in the state of Arizona
- Mount Hood National Forest in the state of Oregon
As a side note, the Mint schedule does not always include every product and is subject to change. It simply provides a basic road map for collectors.
