2011-W Uncirculated Silver Eagles added to their total for the first time since suffering a suspension for re-pricing, according to the latest sales figures from the United States Mint.
Proof and uncirculated Silver Eagles were suspended in late September and returned for sale at reduced prices in early October. A sizable number of collectors apparently canceled their orders in favor of the lower prices as sales of uncirculated Silver Eagles dropped for two straight reporting periods — by 424 and 11,476. The most recent figures from the Mint have the coins up 8,827 for a total of 190,927.
As far as proof Silver Eagles in the same time frame, they initially fell 578 before picking up by 3,674. Their latest weekly sales jumped 16,015 to 771,792.
On the gold side, individual one-ounce proof Gold Eagles sold out Friday. While still available within the four-coin set, their individual product limit was set at 30,000. The United States Mint’s latest sales have them up 349 to a perfect 30,000.
Overall, 48 numismatic products from the Mint outperformed their previous weekly sales as compared to 63 in the previous report. Silver Eagles were in two of the top five spots as the following list highlights:
- 2011 Proof Silver Eagles (+16,015 to 771,792)
- 2011 Proof Set (+12,387 to 869,207)
- 2011 Uncirculated Silver Eagles (+8,827 to 190,927)
- 2011 Mint Set (+4,186 to 441,739)
- Gettysburg ATB 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin (1,980 to 13,157)
In other news, demand for investment-grade bullion Silver Eagles continues to weaken after sales soared to an all-time record during the first week of October. Since, their weekly sales increased 818,000 and most recently by 677,000. They are standing at 2.507 million for October and are just a touch shy of hitting 36 million for the year.
The latest US Mint sales figures for bullion and collector coins and sets are available in the following tables:

The US Mint sent out everybodies subsciption Silver Eagles at the higher price, then made them unavailable for 2 weeks (the return policy from the Mint is 7 days) THEN, they made the Eagle available at the lower cost to those that didn’t have subscriptions. All that time, the price of Silver fluxuated a couple of dollars an ounce. And they refuse to refund the difference of the two prices to those that had subscriptions. Considering this is the FIRST year they started to sell the coins after a 2 year suspension, it appears they did this intentionally to make… Read more »
