Demand weakened a touch for many of the major United States Mint products, including each of its American Silver Eagle coins, but the bureau’s latest sales figures show a mostly steady stream of buying across its offerings.
Sales of Silver Eagle Coins
Sales data published last week had uncirculated Silver Eagles higher for the first time in three weeks. Its total had been suffering weekly cuts due to cancellations and returns following a drop in silver prices and resulting Silver Eagle suspensions. The coins moved higher for a second straight week, but at a slower pace. The uncirculated Silver Eagle advanced 4,580 to 195,507. It had jumped 11,476 in the previous report.
Proof Silver Eagle coins rose 11,995 versus the previous 16,015, and now total 783,787.
With Thursday’s release of the Silver Eagle anniversary set, both the uncirculated and proof Silver Eagle coins should have their totals pop higher by several dozen thousand in a matter of days.
Vicksburg Quarter Three-Coin Set Sales Debut
Three-coin quarter sets enjoy a solid base of collector support. Their sales are not super high but consistently sport 10,000+ during their debut period. Vicksburg Quarter Three-Coin Sets were released on Tuesday, October 18. Collectors grabbed 10,727 by Monday, which is comparable to how the first eight sets performed in their start. Past sales debuts include:
- Hot Springs Quarter Set at 10,684
- Yellowstone Quarter Set at 11,115
- Yosemite Quarter Set at 11,441
- Grand Canyon Quarter Set at 12,418
- Mount Hood Quarter Set at 11,282
- Gettysburg Quarter Set at 12,500
- Glacier Quarter Set at 10,620 and
- Olympic Quarter Set at 10,891
The most recent sales figures for each quarter set may be found more toward the bottom of the sales tables below. All of them improved over the previous week.
In the previous United States Mint sales report, 48 numismatic products outperformed their previous weekly sales. The latest report is a bit higher at 49, led by proof and silver products, as the following list highlights:

- 2011 Proof Silver Eagles (+11,995 to 783,787)
- Vicksburg Quarter Set (+10,727)
- 2011 Silver Proof Set (+4,993 to 476,192)
