With the last two U.S. Mint sales reporting periods broken up almost evenly by the suspension of silver coins for re-pricing, the most recent report shows stronger sales for the returning coins despite their higher price tags and recently waning silver prices.
Conversely, weaker precious metals prices appear to be depressing or perhaps sidelining investors of bullion silver coins for now, while bullion gold coins are selling faster.
There was one debuting U.S. Mint product last week, the 2012 Alice Paul and the Suffrage Movement Gold Coin. Representing the first 2012-dated release in the First Spouse Gold Coin program, collectors ordered more of them during the first few days than any other in the series since 2010. Splits were 1,394 uncirculated coins and 1,808 proof coins for a total of 3,202.
There are two recent coin news articles on the topic of the 24-karat gold coins. The first, located here, discusses in more detail the Alice Paul and the Suffrage Movement Gold Coins and how they compare to past sales debuts. The second article, located here, lists every First Spouse Gold Coin released since 2007 and their latest sales figures.
Each of the Alice Paul coins made it on the list of U.S. Mint top-selling collector products.

US Mint Sales: Bullion Gold and Silver Coins
October sales of U.S. Mint bullion coins have been much more sporadic compared to typical months, suggesting caution is in the wind.
Advances for the Mint’s most popular American Eagle silver coins have occurred on just three days this month. The first week in October they went up on a Thursday by 1.233 million. The second week in October they climbed by 175,000 on a Friday. This week, so far, sales gains of 410,000 occurred on Tuesday.
Daily increases for the Mint’s bullion gold coins have been limited to four days. The first week in October sales advanced on Thursday and Friday for a combined 11,000 ounces. The second week in October they added 11,500 ounces on a Friday. This week, so far, sales gains of 16,000 ounces were reported by the U.S. Mint on Tuesday.

Get one graded Homer sound like you have a mint error. That’s a good thing.
If that is the case I may have a box full of errors. That would be good. Silver is down near $32 and dropping. I think the mint does a good job of predicting when silver will drop. They raise their prices. 🙂
