Visitors to the United States Mint website will find that the 2011-P Gettysburg National Military Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin is now listed as sold out.
The 99.9% pure silver coin with a 3.0 inch diameter was added to the "No Longer Available" section of the U.S. Mint’s website earlier this week.
It was the first of the 2011-dated America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins released last year, on September 22, 2011. The four other five ounce collector coins remain available, although the U.S. Mint has already indicated through its "Last Chance Sale" that those would go off sale on December 31, 2012 at 12:00 noon ET.
First issued at a price of $279.95, volatile silver prices resulted in a several price adjustments for the coin — first down to $229.95, then lower to $204.95 and then increased back to $229.95. That is where the price stood at the time of its sellout, and what the other coins are listed for today.
Gettysburg Mintages and Sales

I wonder what the mint is thinking. They raise the price of the 5 oz coins and the price of silver retreated, but they kept the price up. So, this limits purchases of the 5 oz. A stated limit is 35,000 and they set a deadline of Dec 31st. Then they announce a sellout of one with less than 25,000 mintage. It is like they don’t want to sell too many of the 5 oz coins. I get the feeling that there might only be so many of each one left and the deadline doesn’t mean anything.
