2012-P El Yunque Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins are no longer available from the United States Mint.
The silver coins honoring El Yunque National Forest of Puerto Rico were removed from the U.S. Mint’s online store today, March 11, 2013, with a sellout notice inked atop its product page.
The El Yunque silver coin debuted on May 29, 2012 as the first 2012-dated release in the series of America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins. They were initially offered at a price of $204.95 but were more recently sold for $229.95.
While it was first of the 2012’s to launch, it was not the first to sell out. The coin emblematic of Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park achieved that status in mid-January. It was followed by the 2012-P Acadia National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin on Feb. 20, 2013 and, more recently, by the 2012-P Denali Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin on Feb. 26, 2013.
When the 2012’s first appeared, the U.S. Mint indicated a maximum mintage of 25,000 for each of the coins. Weaker starting demand apparently lowered their final production numbers. The recent sellouts has renewed interested in the series.

*This article was updated to indicate the latest U.S. Mint sales figures as of March 11 instead of the original figures in the article from March 4.
As indicated in the table above, the El Yunque coin appears poised to end with the highest mintage of the five 2012-dated strikes as it has sales of over 17,000. The other coins hover around the 15,000 mark.
Release dates for the upcoming 2013 America the Beautiful Silver Uncirculated Coins have not yet been announced by the U.S. Mint. Pricing, however, has been unveiled at $244.95 per coin.
In related coin news, the U.S. Mint’s entire inventory of 2012 America the Beautiful bullion coins have sold. The bureau is still offering its distributors some of the 2011-dated bullion coins.
Also sold out: American silver eagle, burnished. Should be a record low mintage for the burnished silver eagle. Glad I snagged a few more last week.
Of course the burnished silver eagle is still available as part of the uncirculated set, XA3, $59.95, which will now be a hot item.
I snagged a couple of the uncirculated sets. It was a toss up for me to buy those of the single coin, and since I already had the coin I went for the sets. You are right, probably the lowest minted UNC BSE so far.
