Collectors like their Silver Eagles. Placing an exclamation point on that statement are the latest sales figures from the United States Mint.
Released on May 9, 2013 for $139.95, the 2013 American Eagle West Point Two-Coin Silver Set has one-week sales of 193,652. As expected, its daily sales pace is beginning to slow just like daily sales for last year’s Silver Eagle set from San Francisco. That set actually opened with a lower one-week total of 128,540 orders and it eventually achieved final sales of 251,302. If the West Point set trends like the San Francisco set did, ordering will rebound strongly as its sales deadline approaches on June 6, 2013 at 5:00 PM ET.
Then there’s the standalone 2013-W Proof Silver Eagles, released on January 24, 2013. They jumped another 38,827 in their first full week after returning $5 cheaper from a temporary re-pricing suspension. The number hurdled the Silver Eagles over the 500,000 milestone to 516,084.
Lastly, debuting on the sales charts this week is the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential $1 Coin Cover. It launched on the same day, May 9, 2013, as the West Point set. Collectors didn’t skip over it. The coin cover’s opening five-day sales total came in at 11,422, making it the fifth most popular product.

Comparing percent of sales to the 2012 set, this one is looking at 370,000 at the end. We’ll see. Can’t wait to see them! Happy collecting!
The cost of this is outrageous – $100 mark-up on two coins – they can keep it.
Why is it bullion collectors even bother looking at Numismatic coins?
thePhelps,
Some of the so called “bullion collectors” just whine about the price so they think they can get people to turn away and that the mintage remains low…
tP – I agree, a waste of their time and ours.
They just got tP’d.
My day for bad jokes…
Canadian Mint got smart Put out a $ 100 silver coin (in value) and only worth $ 23.00 dollars in silver. There using there head a way to sell more coins
People should be paying attention to other factors regarding silver and gold pricing. he spot markets are being are being purposefully shorted to create supply for people redeeming GLD and SLV shares.
The Chinese and Indian markets are not receiving the metals they have ordered and the HKMEX just shut down and settled in cash.
There is more going on than the paper price. Think force majeure and some very unhappy allocated account holders left holding the bag.
