Holiday themed coins are still available from the Royal Canadian Mint, offering gift ideas for those looking for unique presents.
These strikes include an array of design options with some integrating enhancements such as lenticular treatments, Swarovski elements and Venetian glass. Most are also featured in silver, adding to their desirability and collectability.
Each are available in limited quantities, however, with some fast approaching a sell-out. 2013 $20 Holiday Season with Venetian Glass Candy Cane Fine Silver Coin
Leading the quick sell-out charge is the Venetian Glass Candy Cane Fine Silver Coin, offered for CAD $149.95. Capped at 10,000, the Royal Canadian Mint had indicated just a few days back that over 96% sold. Now, they are no longer available online but they may be found at Mint stores in Ottawa, Vancouver and Winnipeg.
Featured on the reverse is a colored design by Canadian artist Maurice Gervais. It is enhanced with a hand-crafted candy cane glass element by Cortella & Ballarin s.n.c, a master glassmaker from Murano, Italy. All previous Murano coins have sold out.
Specifications of the $20 coin include a composition of 99.99% pure silver, a proof quality finish, a diameter of 38mm and a gross weight of 31.39 grams.
2013 $20 Holiday Wreath Fine Silver Coin
Unique enhancements were also added to the Holiday Wreath Fine Silver Coin currently available from the Royal Canadian Mint for CAD $114.95. In the case of this strike, five different Swarovski elements complement the reverse design by Canadian artist Maurice Gervais.
Three blue and two gold Swarovski elements adorn the holiday wreath on this 99.99% pure silver coin. The mintage has been capped at 10,000.
2013 $20 Winter Snowflake Fine Silver Coin
A single Swarovski element has been added to the reverse of the Winter Snowflake Fine Silver Coin. The element, featured in black, is snowflake shaped and appears at the center of a larger snowflake that was completed by Royal Canadian Mint engraver Konrad Wachelko.
These coins are offered for CAD $114.95 with a mintage of 10,000. Each is struck from one ounce of 99.99% silver.
2013 $10 Holiday Candles Fine Silver Coin
The Holiday Candles Fine Silver Coin is composed in one-half ounce of 99.99% pure silver. Canadian artist Claudio D’Angelo designed the reverse which includes a larger candle flanked by two smaller candles.
Each of the three candles is enhanced with red enamel. The RCM indicates that the process of adding the enamel is a "technical feature that requires specialized engraving to ensure that the enamel spreads and sets accurately within the image."
Mintage of the coin is limited to 10,000. Pricing is CAD $74.95.
2013 $10 A Partridge In A Pear Tree Fine Silver Coin
For CAD $64.95, the Partridge In A Pear Tree Silver Coin may be ordered. The reverse design by Canadian artist Risto Turunen was inspired by the classic holiday song "A Partridge in a Pear Tree." It shows an image of a single partridge in a pear tree with snowflakes falling behind a frosty window.
Color has been added to the base of the tree which is adorned with holly, pinecones and a wreath. The Royal Canadian Mint indicates the mintage of the 1/2 ounce silver coin is 10,000.
2013 $10 Holiday Season Fine Silver Coin
A traditional design by Canadian artist Doug Geldart graces the reverse of the Holiday Season Fine Silver Coin. It includes a horse-drawn sleigh set in a city adorned for the season.
This 1/2 ounce silver coin is sold for CAD $39.95 and is issued as the 12th and last release in the O Canada 1/2 ounce silver coin series. Mintage is limited to 40,000.
2013 50c 3D Snowman Coin
Appearing as the seventh release in the Royal Canadian Mint’s annual series of holiday lenticular coins is the 3D Snowman Coin. The cupronickel issue has a maximum mintage of 20,000, but 98% have already sold.
The lenticular reverse shows two children in the process of building a snowman with their completed work featured in the other design. The images are the work of Canadian artist Tony Bianco.
While available, they may be ordered for CAD $29.95.
