Debuting Thursday, Feb. 27, is the 2014 Army Intaglio Print, the first of five cards from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing’s Defenders of Freedom series.
This year’s series is dedicated to the five branches of the United States Armed Forces.
"This intaglio print features an exquisite compilation of unique engraved vignettes focusing on the age-old art of intaglio printing," describes the Bureau of Engraving.
Priced at $22.50 and measuring 8 1/2" x 11," the Army Intaglio Print features two major decorative designs.

Toward the top of the card is a vignette of a soldier from the United States Army 3rd Infantry Regiment who is guarding the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. The scene was engraved by William B. Matthews in 1954 from a drawing by Robert Miller.

At the bottom of the card is a vignette depicting a United States Army Green Beret soldier as seen on Series 681 $10 military payment certificates issued beginning in August 1969.
The two vignettes are separated in the middle by the Department of Army Emblem. Found topmost on the card is a banner with the words: DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM. Bottommost is a banner stating: Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

Beginning at 8:00 EST on the 27th, collectors can order the 2014 Army Intaglio Print at www.moneyfactorystore.gov. Its release is in conjunction with the BEP’s participation at the ANA’s National Money Show in Atlanta, Georgia.

Discount on Subscription
These prints will also be priced at $22.50 each. A subscription for all five is currently available for $85, which is a savings of $27.50 when compared to buying each print individually as they are released.

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing is the largest producer of security documents in the United States. The bureau prints billions of Federal Reserve Notes for delivery to the Federal Reserve System each year. These notes are produced at facilities in Washington, DC, and Fort Worth, Texas.
