New United States Mint figures offer updated sales for the curved 2014 National Baseball Hall of Fame Commemorative Coins, to include different totals for the silver dollars — their first change in four months.
Issued in $5 gold, silver dollar and 50c clad and in proof and uncirculated finishes, the commemorative coins celebrate the diamond anniversary of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The $5 gold coins sold out within 24 hours of launching and the silver dollars sold out within two weeks of release. Late placed silver dollar orders began shipping about two weeks ago.
Changes show the proof silver dollars up 5,569 to 267,660 and the uncirculated silver dollars down 6,490 to 131,419. Until this week, sales splits for these two coins had been cemented in place since April 20. The adjustments lowered their combined total to 399,079, or 921 lower than the 400,000 mintage authorized by the National Baseball Hall of Fame Commemorative Coin Act (Public Law 112-152).
Available at higher mintages, the U.S. Mint continues to sell clad Baseball half-dollars.
Here are the latest totals and sales splits for all the commemorative coins as of Sunday, Aug 17:
