Today we’ll take a quick look at updated sales of recently sold out collectible from West Point to include the American Gold Buffalo and American Eagle coins in gold and silver.
Before getting into summary details, note that these coins have sales that are higher than past issues so they won’t go down in the books as "scarce." In that sense, their sellouts are less exciting but they’re worth discussing nevertheless.
Up first is the 2014-W Proof American Gold Buffalo Coin. Its total fell by 2 to 20,542, the highest amount since the issue from 2011. It was priced at $1,540 before selling out.
Next we have the singly sold 2014-W Uncirculated American Silver Eagle, jumping 6,527 to 225,341. It sold out priced at $43.95. This coin is still available as one of the coins within the 2014 Annual Uncirculated Dollar Coin Set, priced at $44.95. The annual set went up in sales by 1,254 to 21,589. Even if the set were to sell out today, this year’s uncirculated Silver Eagle’s mintage would top last year’s by almost 25,000 coins.
Finally, there are the sold out one-half ounce and one-quarter ounce 2014-W Proof American Gold Eagles, last priced at $770 and $397.50. Both coins had their totals lowered with the one-half ounce now at sales of 5,906 and the one-quarter ounce at sales of 6,001. Also, both coins are included within the four-coin set which has sales of 8,900 and is still available, although it’s currently listed by the Mint as "out of stock" and hasn’t seen any sales movement in a week. In any event, the two gold pieces already have sales that are the highest since 2011.

Visit the United States Mint website at http://catalog.usmint.gov for product information.
Mike, is it possible to track down the number of San Francisco struck ATB uncirculated quarters produced? It seems as if the Mint sells them and they disappear from the earth. There is no record of number produced or that they ever existed for that matter.
Kahoola, you mean the circulating-quality SF Mint quarters offered since 2012 in rolls and bags?
Yes Mike. Is there some place where the mintages can be found?
I can have them tabulated from U.S. Mint sales data. As a numismatic product, the Mint is unlikely to provide further figures beyond those.
Kahoola, Here’s some info I found. Hope it’s helpful: 2012 EL YUNQUE QUARTER BAGS & ROLLS Units Coins 100-coin bag (S) 10,017 1,001,700 40-coin roll (S) 16,961 678,440 1,680,140 2012 CHACO CULTURE QUARTER BAGS & ROLLS 100-coin bag (S) 7,279 727,900 40-coin roll (S) 16,528 661,120 1,389,020 2012 ACADIA QUARTER BAGS & ROLLS 100-coin bag (S) 7,254 725,400 40-coin roll (S) 17,093 683,720 1,409,120 2012 HAWAII QUARTER BAGS & ROLLS 100-coin bag (S) 7,100 710,000 40-coin roll (S) 17,478 699,120 1,409,120 2012 DENALI QUARTER BAGS & ROLLS 100-coin bag (S) 7,025 702,500 40-coin roll (S) 17,668 706,720 1,409,220 2013 WHITE… Read more »
Thank you Jack and Mike. It strikes me as odd that the Mint is making circulation quality “S” coins and not including them in mintage totals. They are making Kennedy halves, presidential dollars, Native American dollars; all numismatic products, circulation quality not intended for circulation; and included in Mint totals. But not the “S” ATB quarters. If one collects ATB “circulation” quarters then are there only two options “P” and “D” or does one need to collect “S” quarters? If the average collector doesn’t know they even exist, then obviously they will not be collected.
