What a year it’s been for the United States Mint and their 2014 National Baseball Hall of Fame Commemorative Coins.
These unique curved-shaped collectibles launched in late March with the gold and silver editions scoring fast sellouts. Clad commemoratives tend to get passed over by many collectors, but not the Baseball clads.
All year they were consistently among the U.S. Mint’s top weekly sellers. No surprise, they were again in this last round of sales data for 2014.

Baseball silver dollars snuck on the list too, returning for sale when order cancellations freed up a few thousand. They were taken quickly.
By law, the U.S. Mint can offer 2014 commemorative coins until the end of this year so their sales ended on Tuesday. Expect some changes but here are the latest commemorative sales compared to their authorized mintages:
- $5 gold Baseball coins are at 50,104, which is 104 above maximum;
- $1 silver Baseball coins are exactly at their 400,000 maximum;

Long way to get to sellout of 75K at this rate…
2013 Theodore Roosevelt Coin and Chronicles Set* 215,393 minted ?
2013 Theodore Roosevelt Coin and Chronicles Set has ended with the United States Mint tagging the product as “sold out.” U.S. Mint reporting last had its sales at 15,144.
Dale, the set’s sales have been fixed. Thanks for pointing the error out.
Looks like the 2014 clad proof sets are over 90,000 less this year in sales than the 2013’s were at this point. Mint sets and silver proof sets a couple thousand off. Can’t wait to see the final figure on the 2013 uncirculated sets. Happy New Year everyone!
I’ll have to give the Mint credit when it’s due. This was certainly one of the most unique products they have come out with in recent memory. So kudos to the mint on this product.
