One of nature’s top predators is captured on new collectibles from the Royal Canadian Mint, the 2015 Imposing Alpha Wolf 1 oz. Pure Gold Coin and 1 oz. Fine Silver Coin.
The $350 gold piece is rendered in 99.999% purity, touted by the Mint as "the highest standard of pure gold available in the world." The $20 silver coin is 99.99% fine.
Both coins share the same basic design of a lone wolf. The animal is one of nature’s most savvy hunters. Aided by excellent senses of smell, hearing and sight, it not only survives but thrives in the rugged remote areas of Canada.
Coin Designs and Specifications
Canadian artist Maurade Baynton designed the reverse image found on the gold and silver Imposing Alpha Wolf coins. The wolf appears in its natural habitat perched on a rocky slope. Behind, tall timbers can be seen with a mountain range in the distance and a winding river valley below.
The $350 gold coin features various finishes against a background that has been hand-polished. The $20 silver coin offers selective coloring to enhance the lifelike details of the wolf and the rocks it is perched upon.
Susanna Blunt’s regal portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is found on obverses.
