Tuesday’s release and 15-minute sellout of the 2015 Dwight D. Eisenhower Coin & Chronicles Set tops U.S. Mint sales news and captured collectors’ interest this week.
Next in line is probably the 2015-W $100 American Liberty High Relief Gold Coin (see photos), which sprinted in its start on July 30 with more than 32,000 sold in four hours, but has since slowed. During its first full week of availability, the 24-karat gold coin climbed another 837 to 42,767, or 85.5% of the 50,000 maximum.

Some 2014 items gotta be finally getting close to selling out. Wonder how much longer the unsold 2013 stuff will keep being offered? Into 2016 and beyond?
With the possible exception of the three coin ATB sets, which might still be useful for new collectors wanting to backfill, I would like to see the mint stop carrying over unsold items beyond December 31 of each year.
Or one year of offering, for those items coming out late in the calendar year.
I agree with you, Boz.
Boz –
I agree. I’ve been harping on post year sales for years. I guess the mint wants to make as much money as it can, even with old outdated products.
Stopping sales at the end of the year adds to rarity and can increase resale values later on. Those depending on past year products should get their act together and buy in the year issued. Otherwise they’ll always be behind – not a good way to run a business or a collection.
This is the problem with not coming out with fresh, new designs on a regular basis. The mint has to compensate by keeping old inventory on the shelf to make it look like a full product line. Take away all the pre-2015 items and you have a pretty poor showing.
The mint needs to stop the JFK half sets, enough already, there is no 2ndary market too many of the darn things….its almost ’16!
They are still selling gold spouses from 2013 – guess the economy was not as strong as they anticipated and minted too – way back when. They made a number of economic, marketing, sales, design, and common sense mistakes on that entire series. Rather like the platinum series in MS & PF; not to mention the whole 2008 precious metal year. Some recent year’s sales have been really low i.e.: in PF platinum & gold eagle burnished SP/MS “W’s.” I see that the new Liberty $100 gold coin HR not UHR are going down in price via the big re-sellers… Read more »
Hello Everyone, I just received my 2015 Liberty HR Gold coin. Upon very close inspection it looks flawless. Have decided to send in to PCGS for First Strike designation and hopefully MS70 grade. If comments here are any indication of other coins, MS70 could prove to be very illusive. I personally like the coin and believe that MS70/MS69 will likely demand a good premium. Wouldn’t surprise me to see this coin at $2,400 in high grade within 6 months time. I think this first $100 gold coin will be highly sought after within next year or so
For % rate, 5oz ATB alway are best bet than any other,
For $1500 , we can buy 10x ATB 5oz instead just 1 piece of HR liberty gold coin,
and it is much rare than HR liberty
30000 vs 50000 Mintage
For Investment and hobby purpose , i subject 5 oz Silver
The US Mint started years ago on selling way past the yearly dates for LOW MINTAGE items. Remember the 2007 Platinum Reverse & Reg. Proof set – they LOST millions of dollars on that and only sold around 17K sets for several years. When platinum hit $800 in 2008-2009 they were the only thing available in platinum for around $1,200 each set boxed and very neat. Th US Mint hates to keep getting embarrassed (IN-BARR-ASSED) EVERY time; as they make so many mistakes. Then they screw their regular customers with their 6 minute sell-outs and their FUBAR (F fouled U… Read more »
