Highlights from this week’s U.S. Mint sales report include first showings of the 2015 Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential $1 Coin and several updates on popular, recent product issues.
Dollars featuring LBJ, the 36th President of the United States, moved quicker out of the gate than those for John F. Kennedy. They were about on par with the second issue of the year honoring Dwight D. Eisenhower and faster than the first 2015 dollars honoring Harry S. Truman.
On Aug. 18, six products with Johnson $1 coins went on sale. Available options include rolls, bags and boxes of circulating-quality $1 coins struck in Philadelphia and Denver with mint marks of ‘P’ and ‘D’. More than 2.85 million LBJ $1 coins sold. Here’s a breakdown of their starts by product type:
Opening Sales of LBJ Presidential $1 Coins

As a comparison, the immediate prior dollars for JFK opened with sales of nearly 1.6 million. The Ike dollars logged starting sales of over 2.86 million, the quickest pace since the U.S. Mint stopped offering 500-coin boxes of dollars in 2013. The first 2015-dated Presidential dollar, depicting Harry S. Truman, opened with sales of 1.99 million.

Compare these reduced asking prices to their first day of release Tuesday August 11, 2015 when ebay seller discountprices815 was able to resell them for $399 each as Item #291537319327. $399 – $57.95 = +$341.05 Windfall Profit.
The US mint can kiss my a** will never buy anything from them again after the last coin chronicles went on sale placed my order then they told me it was never placed they had it rigged so only certain people could get them had a friend call in also the lady asked her if she ever bought from the US mint she said no the lady told her they would not sell to her then but of idiots!
I don’t understand it. These aren’t even gold or silver and yet the Mint treats them like the crown jewels and to part and parcel them and sell them on a whim?
Does someone out there know something we don’t? Are they made of unobtanium? Does Obama have something to do with this fiasco? Or is the mint pissed at all of us who complained
about their glorious $100.00 Liberty and the fact it still isn’t sold out and everybody Is being punished for it. Go figure.
Boz, maybe it is possible the mint is starting to post sales when they bill the credit card (when they ship). Also, there is no way they sold 548 of the proof Lou Hoover coins (a 25% gain). I would expect a negative adjustment on this line next week. Its fun to look at these numbers, but some of them are suspect.
Dwight,
Just have the mint sell them on Ebay at buy it now.
