An antique finish, high relief and rimless design all combine to create a unique silver coin that will quickly sell-out. Just released, the new 2015 Aphrodite 2 oz Silver High Relief Coin appears as the third and final release in the Perth Mint of Australia’s Goddesses of Olympus series.
Featured on the coin’s reverse is a design depicting Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, Pleasure and Beauty. Its mintage is set at the extremely low number of only 2,000.
This same mintage, similar themed designs and matching unique specifications have led to almost immediate sell-outs of the previous two program issues. Those depicted the goddesses Hera and Athena. Prior to the Goddesses of Olympus series, the Perth Mint offered the three-coin Gods of Olympus program which depicted Zeus, Poseidon and Hades. These coins also met with incredible demand upon their release.
Coin Designs and Specifications
Each Aphrodite coin presents an antique finish with a high relief rimless reverse design by artist Tom Vaughan.
"The reverse of the coin depicts Aphrodite sitting on the beach at Aphrodite’s Rock surrounded by scallop shells, holding a mirror in her left hand, with a dove perched in her right hand," describes the Perth Mint. "She is accompanied by a swan and three dolphins, with the ocean and clouds in the background."
Reverse inscriptions include APHRODITE and the Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
Obverses offer Ian Rank-Broadley’s likeness of Queen Elizabeth II. Inscriptions around the portrait read QUEEN ELIZABETH II, 2 oz 999 SILVER, 2015 and TUVALU 2 DOLLARS.
Specifications of the two-ounce 99.9% pure silver coin include a minimum gross weight of 62.27 grams, a maximum diameter of 40.50 mm and a maximum thickness of 6.00 mm.

The Perth Minth’s website had a lot of problems when this became available. Luckily, I managed to secure one.
Is that a Goddess or a stripper? I have the other 5 coins so I suppose I will have to buy this as well to complete the set. This design is a far cry from the original Zeus coin which was stunning.
