Kangaroos, eagles and Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday are among the subjects explored in the Perth Mint of Australia’s April 2016 releases.
Those interested in the Queen’s 90th birthday coins will find two high relief versions with one composed of two ounces of gold and the other featured in one ounce of silver. A one-fourth ounce gold coin is also available from the Mint, but not in high relief. In additional, the Mint is offering a stamp and coin cover.

2016 Queen Elizabeth II 90th Birthday Coins
Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her 90th birthday on April 21, 2016. To commemorate the momentous occasion, the Perth Mint is issuing three new precious metal coins.
All feature a royal image on their reverse (tails) side which includes St Edward’s Crown surrounded by wattle branches. Reverse inscriptions include H. M. QUEEN ELIZABETH II, 90TH BIRTHDAY, the date of 21-4-2016 and the coin’s composition.
A portrait of the Queen appears on the obverses along with inscriptions of ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 2016 and the coin’s legal tender face value.
The high relief two ounce gold coin, a high relief one ounce silver coin and a one-fourth ounce gold coin have mintages of 300, 5,000 and 1,000 respectively. These coins are 99.99% pure.
The stamp and coin cover is limited to 8,500, with the coin in aluminum bronze. The coin’s reverse depicts a stylised crown pattern. The Australia Post $1.00 stamp is postmarked for the first day of issue and the envelope includes Australia Post’s Seal of Authenticity.

2016 $2 Mini Roo Gold Coin
For the seventh year in a row, the Perth Mint offers an affordable Mini Roo gold coin. The 2016 release shows an image of the marsupial looking over its shoulder.
Mintage for the 99.99% pure gold coin is unlimited. Each is protected in an acrylic capsule and attached to a wallet-sized presentation card.

2016 Wedge-Tailed Eagle Gold and Silver Coins
Former Chief Engraver of the United States Mint John M. Mercanti created the image of the wedge-tailed eagle which appears on the reverse of these high-relief gold and silver coins. The depiction shows the eagle perched on the branch of a tree.
Inscribed around the bird are AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE and the coin’s composition.
Mintage for the 99.99% fine gold coin is capped at 1,000. The issue limit for the 99.9% fine silver coin is 19,000 with another 1,000 available for other product options.
ANZAC Spirit 100th Anniversary Silver Three-Coin Set
Three historic First World War images appear on one-half ounce, 99.9% pure silver coins issued as part of the ANZAC 100th Anniversary Silver Proof Coin Set.
The coin first depicts the Thuillier photograph of two Australian soldiers. Seen on the second coin is a representation of Peter Corlett’s Cobbers statue. The final coin offers a likeness of the Roll of Honour at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.
Each is composed of one-half ounce of 99.9% pure silver and includes edge lettering of PRIDE, RESPECT and GRATITUDE. Mintage is capped at 5,000.

2016 50c Ocean Fairy Silver Proof Coin
A colorful Ocean Fairy adorns the reverse of this one-half ounce, 99.9% fine silver proof coin. The fairy can be seen sitting on a rock with the ocean behind her.
This Tuvalu legal tender coin comes housed in an illustrated display card and is limited to 5,000.

I received my Queen Elizabeth II 90th birthday coins (gold, silver & aluminum-bronze) & the companion first day issue coin & stamp cover. The first day 90th birthday cover is postmarked April 5, 2016. Of course Her Majesty’s birthday is not till April 21 (the date is inscribed on all 3 coins) & she doesn’t officially celebrate it till May & June with events each year during a better weather period. I was keen to get the recently released Queen ElizII Star silver proof coin. I noticed that it was produced under the Niue Country banner.. will this detract from it’s collectability in future years?
