Perth Mint Gold and Silver Bullion Sales Soar in March

Demand in March for Australian bullion products soared with gold sales the highest in five months and silver sales the strongest in six months. And, according to the latest figures from the Perth Mint of Australia, they trounced their year-ago levels.

In extending a streak, silver sales also notched their seventh straight month above 1 million ounces. Plus, they logged their second highest month on record since CoinNews started tracking the Mint’s data in February 2013.

Bullion Sales in March 2016

Perth Mint sales of gold coins and gold bars totaled 47,948 ounces in March, surging 29.4% from February and jumping 40% higher than sales from a year earlier.

For the first quarter or year to date, gold sales reached 132,700 ounces for a 48.4% increase over the 89,415 ounces delivered in the first three months of last year.

The Perth Mint sold 1,756,238 ounce in bullion silver last month, up 67.4% from February and 175% higher than March 2015.

Finally, silver sales tally to 4,278,708 ounces in the first quarter for a 164.7% increase over last year’s opening three-month total of 1,616,624 ounces.
