Danny –
I am just waiting for the first report of a Proof ASE $1 coin missing the 30th anniversary edge lettering! I hope my shipment has at least one error coin! Lol
-NumisDudeTX
Seth, Nobody is perfect as we have seen by the errors in recent past new coins from the Mint. I personally thought but didn’t voice that I felt this edge lettering and numbering was over ambitious and would be hard to impliment. Just to ambitious to try and cram all that on one coin. Mistakes were bound to be made. I have a total of 6 ordered, 2 from L&C Coins that I’m sure they would discover and 4 from the Mint. Let’s hope we both get one, a feather in our caps? I personally would like to thank you… Read more »
Seth,
These coins have been out for only about 28 and a half hours. If I may respectfully inquire, how did you get word of this and is this conversation between us only or is it for all to see? Do you think it could be fake? With the dismal sales of the SLQ, you would think a rumor about it would be spread to spur sales. Oh what a tangled Web is woven. Thank you again.

Mike, are those the unadjusted audited figures on the American Eagles: Business & Proof strikes, namely the 2013, 2014, 2015 ?
Has anyone seen any double die marks on the gold quarter? I see what appears to be doubling on the nose, lips and chin of Lady Liberty and also on the reverse letter “A” in America. I have some pics but I have to figure out how to send them. Let me know.

I seen someone selling a ‘lip’ error for over one grand; ‘looked horrible’.
Sorry, it was for the Mercury dime.

Synoptic 12 and all readers:
I would like to apologize for my rant in my earlier post. I’ve being having problems and just got out of the hospital which put me in a really bad mood. While in the hospital I was not given all my medication and it made a big difference. No excuse to act like I did. I have mentioned before that we should all get along and I did not follow my own advice. My apologizes to all.
Danny – I have not heard of a new ASE $1 coin without the edge lettering yet. I was just saying that as a new type of ASE coin it is likely that an error will get out. Many first year issue coins have been found over the years with minor or major errors for whatever reason – some have been done on purpose by Mint employees such as some of the Presidential $1 coins missing edge lettering & a Mint employee was arrested by US Mint Police for that inside job. Nothing is impossible when you have an assembly… Read more »
Seth, Being a 100% Disabled Veteran with a variety of forms of Pc’s, ipads, iphone, TV and others, it gives me the time and access to all forms of media outlets. Just a half hour ago, I watched Sundays rerun ot the weeks live version of the coin vault. One of the show hosts boasted how they had 500 SLQ’s currently at NGC and PCGS being graded with more being purchased. Current price $808.95 inc. Shipping. They had 25 raw available now which I’m sure you know that means they came back SP68 or less as with all other resellers.… Read more »
Danny – Thank you for your service to the USA as a Veteran! I am a USAF & NSA brat for the first 20 years of my life with a USAF id card & USAF official govt passport. I lived in Japan 3 years at Misawa AFB (1968-1971) & 3 years in Bavaria, Germany at our smallest & most secret NSA base Bad Aibling Station (1976-1979) & attended the US DOD Munich American High School. My father also served 1 year tour of duty in Pakistan in 1961 & a year in Thailand during the Vietnam War on loan from… Read more »
Seth, To go a little deeper, in mostly European countries their top rank is “Field Marshal” which is signified by a “Field Marshals Baton” During the Napoleanic Era, Field Marshal Ney was his top Field Marshal. He was tried on trumped up charges and supposedly executed. But, rumors have it that somehow he escaped to America and lived a long life. In WW2 There were many Field Marshals in the German Army. Two stick out. Field Marshal Von Palus who commanded the forces at Stalingrad. Knowing that all good Field Marshals Committed Suicide rather than surrender, Hitler promoted him to… Read more »

Enjoyed the commentary which not many, if any reveal online. Actually, one of our family members was a bird colonel in the Air Force; flew red light missions over Korea. I don’t know what a bird colonel is but he adopted two German children. His name was Henry Stravato if you’ve heard of him. I can speak freely now for he is no longer with us.
Seth, A Lieutenant Colonel is marked by a Silver Oak leaf like in the Army and Marines. In the Navy it signifies a Commander. The next step up in rank is Full Colonel, Sometimes referred to as a “Bird Colonel” in the Air Force, Army an Marines the insignia is a Silver Eagle with its wings spread wide. In the Navy it signifies a Caplain. The next step up in rank is a Silver Star or “Stardom” as it sometimes is called. It signifies a Brigadier General or in the Navy Rear Admiral lower half. It then goes up to… Read more »
Sorry, misspelled Captain.

Has any one received a coin with a mark above the last a in America, on the reverse? Almost a square divot.
ed,
Which coin are you specifically referring to, a 2016 issue?
Danny – Thanks for the military history on ranks. My father was the only one in my family to have served. But, most of my coin club members are retired & active duty military & often show us their foreign coins & banknotes obtained from overseas tour of duty from many countries. I remember from high school history class about Field Marshal Rommel, nicknamed the “Desert Rat” for his North Africa campaign during WWII. I think it is very important to tell the stories of military service for the history books. Not many young people know just how much our… Read more »
Seth, Thank you and you are very welcome. Rommel was highly respected by the Allies and also feared. At one time, Asassinating him was discussed. The British also had Field Marshals. One stiff ass glory hound in particular, Mongomery, General Pattons nemesis. Can you believe it, he actually came out in the press and took credit for winning the Battle of the Buldge! He was also responsible for one of the largest blunders in WW2, “Operation Market Garden” as shown in the movie “A Bridge too Far”. One Pompous Ass! I’m waiting for ed to be more specific about the… Read more »
For what it’s worth, Rommel was known as “the Desert Fox”. It was the British 7th Armoured Division that resisted him in Tobruk that gave them the nickname “Desert Rats”.
Kahoola,
Actually it was the Australians who were given the name “Desert Rats”. Backed by a British Contingent, they bore the brunt of the fighting in abandoned Italian fortifications, until under pressure from the Australian Government, they were relieved completely by the British.
Thanks Kahoola –
I got the fox mixed up with the rat!
2017 coins are already being issued for the year of the Rooster (or Cock) in other breaking animal news!
