Earlier this month, the Perth Mint released a set of 2016 Australian Kangaroo Silver Proof Coins in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz sizes.
The four-coin proof set, which is still available for AUS $199.09 or about US $153, was conceived after the unexpected popularity of a bullion version that realized more than 10 million in sales.
Kangaroo Set Coin Designs and Specifications
Stuart Devlin designed the iconic image of a single kangaroo that is on the coins’ reverses. The marsupial is surrounded by stylized rays of sunlight. Inscriptions include AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO, 2016, 9999 SILVER, the Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, and 1oz, 1/2oz, 1/4oz, or 1/10oz.
The obverse (heads side) offers Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Obverse inscriptions are ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA and the legal tender face values.

As shown, the one ounce, half-ounce and tenth-ounce coins have mintages limited to this set. The quarter-ounce coin, however, will also be issued individually and will have a maximum mintage of 13,000.
