Boy was I wrong!!!!
I thought these would sell out quickly.
I had assumed collectors were passing on the “Dime” and “Quarter” so they could purchase the “Half Dollar.”
I was wrong.
Not really…just the assumption of collectors desire was stopped in its tracks by the cost of gold…same affect as First Spouse Gold. it appears that the supply side overwhelmed those not wiling to pay almost $900. Although there are millions of serious collectors the majority just are not able financially to purchase them Perhaps smaller coins like 1/10 once would excite (without blowing holes in peoples pockets is an option) or an alloyed metal combo. Its a shame because these are beautiful coins that frustrates those with limited funds yet love our hobby.
I think we’re both right.
I sacrificed a lot of things from other collections I have to buy these three coins, other wise I could not afford them but I wanted them for my coin collection.I am not sorry I did it I love all three of them.
The timing of this coin’s release may also be a contributing factor to it’s slow~ish sales: At this time of year, many folks are considering what they will have to budget for Christmas spending and see there is no room for spending an additional $865. Contrary to what the politicians have been spewing for most of the year – this is not a rip-roaring economy for everybody.
Very good point, Mammoth.
A Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.
Still surprised the gold WL half dollar hasn’t sold out, but as Mammoth said, many people were saving for Black Friday deals for the Holidays & not for a gold coin.
Happy Thanksgiving collectors!

@Seth Riesling
Yeah $865 is a lot of money for me too … my priorities lie elsewhere … I just got hooked into the modern US Mint offerings for quite a while but fortunately the ineptness of the Mint, their customer “service” and their atrocious “designs” on many of the coins (the Rumsfeld dollar, RR dollar, Nancy FS coin, etc) just left me cold. I’m glad though as I can spend my $$ somewhere worthwhile ..
