The United States Mint didn’t publish numismatic sales figures last week, directing resources instead toward its redesigned website.
Its latest report includes two weeks of sales, plus first showings for the 2017-S Congratulations Set, the 2017-W $100 American Liberty High Relief Gold Coin, quarters celebrating the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site in the District of Columbia, and an uncirculated set of all the quarters for this year.
Frederick Douglass Quarter Debut
U.S. Mint quarters with a design emblematic of Frederick Douglass launched on April 3 at prices ranging from $18.95 to $46.95.
Available product options include rolls and bags of quarters produced in Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco with mint marks of ‘P’, ‘D’ and ‘S’. The amount sold through their first almost two weeks totaled 2,009,180 quarters.
2017-S Congratulations Set Debut
Issued on April 4 for $54.95, the 2017 Congratulations Set contains a special proof American Silver Eagle from the San Francisco Mint. Past sets included the year’s regular proof version from the West Point Mint.
Restricted to 75,000 sets but without a per household order limit, all of them were claimed within a few minutes of launching. The Mint now places their official sales total at 74,497 sets.
2017-W $100 American Liberty Gold Coin Debut
Released on April 6 as a part of the U.S. Mint’s 225th anniversary celebration, the 2017-W $100 American Liberty Gold Coin logged first-day sales of 14,285. Its 11-day total reached 17,704 for 17.7% of the possible 100,000.
2017 Quarters Uncirculated Set Debut
Finally, the Mint’s set of 2017 uncirculated quarters launched on April 10 for $12.95. It includes pairs of quarters from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. Collectors scooped up 14,230 sets in the first seven days. Last year’s set scored sales of 14,250 in five days.

17,704??? Worse than i ever thought. Holy cow.
I thought for sure 25k by now. She is a beauty though. Have seen a couple on you tube. I guess with 100k mintage with the 400 plus dollar premium, Not many buyers. We’ll see what happens..
So sad, the 2017 is a flop, and the mintage & sale (likely FOREVER!) will make a low mintage coin unlikely, nor legs on this item. The Mint cares little abot what collectors think, we like a CHANCE to buy an item from the mint, not profiteers (2017 S ASE proof …) and although modern ideas & all inclusion is PC these days, sorry, I would have preferred a Flowing Hair, like they used back in 1792, heck I was there it feels like…….next year HR a latina, then a asian-American….etc., etcetera……a string of low sellers destined to be bullion… Read more »
AND how the heck or why were like 1,200+ Effigy ATB 5oz. returned to the mint????
Chas? IMO, The quality workmanship was awful. What other reason could it be? Maybe a few credit card returns… Who knows.

Thanks for the great comprehensive updated sales figures for two weeks & analysis! The photo tagline says .9995 fine instead of .9999 fine for the gold $100 coin.

For the $100 gold coin, a couple of months ago it received significant coverage form the non-coin press. When the coin was actually released, zero coverage. I think the Mint should handled media coverage better.
That is a big jump on the Platinum Eagle. From 3,000-4,000 the two years before up to 9,000 in 2016! Wonder what caused that? Was there a big change in the price?
Joke of a coin
You guys really don’t believe in the first ammendment do you?
