The Royal Canadian Mint kicked of the new month with several collectibles, including a unique piece that features DC Comics’ Superman™ against laser-engraved panels that hint at the origins of not only Superman but also Batman™ and Wonder Woman™.
Adding to its appeal, the coin is struck in 3 ounces of 99.99% pure silver. Most of it is gold plated. Superman shines in silver.
"Traditional engraving brings Bronze Age Superman to life as he bursts through the laser-engraved comic book panels," describes the Royal Canadian Mint.
"The combination of engraving, plating and finishes creates a sense of motion and adds texture: it looks and feels like Superman is emerging from the coin’s flat surface and racing straight toward the viewer."
Susanna Blunt’s portrait of the Queen appears on the silver coin’s obverse or heads side.
The likeness is surrounded by inscriptions of ELIZABETH II, CANADA, 2017, D G REGINA, and 50 DOLLARS.
