Visit the United States Mint website at http://catalog.usmint.gov for product information.
That is a large chunk of “adjustment” for that EU set. Doesn’t the Mint have a 7 day (pls correct me if I’m off) return policy? So how did these large amounts turn up?? I think the Mint should shed a little light on this … but will they?? They (the managers/execs/etc) get their full pay, regardless of whether they will or not though.
Likely some big# returns, the reveresed sell out killed the flippers, plus the gunk in set I sent 11 back all with a LOT of gunk in the holder – I keot those with small spots, out of 25 sets 22 had ‘something’ inside the reverse side of holder. No qulaity control, no brain, no thought on how to issue anything HH limits, etc. the mint is really a mess….
Yes horrible quality control and design of the holder. The “gunk” was the impression the outside plastic holder has with the black coin insert creating what the pressure of them together looking like “gunk”. POOR design!!!!
That comes from having an Acting Principal Deputy Director (David Motl) whose background is prison management and finance. Knows nothing about manufacturing and quality control – at least not enough to manage better quality than what’s been mentioned above. There’s not been a Director of the Mint for over 6 years now.
I wonder if the #’s keep going down IF sales will go negative…Prognosis Negative….
What’s the draw to purchase the 2017 Limited Edition Silver Proof set in October? Haven’t all the coins in the set already been offered or does the mint throw in a unique coin? I’m not sure I understand the reason for the package. Anyone?
i don’t know why the mint would not make a proof annual $ coin set , with the siver proof Eagle+*, just like the burnished silver *Eagle set that,s been out for quit a few years, 50,0000 is a low mintage’ but what makes them so rare, the limited silver proof set. i have,nt looked as of late, but people were paying$$ a good price for them.
?, is the 2017 limited edition silver proof set, silver *Eagle, is the mint mark a *S or *W , because it says San Fran proof set.
if over 23,000 sets were returned to the mint they had to be cherry picked by the big buyers. keep the perfect sets and send the rest back . i hope the mint dosen’t sell them back to the public that would be a crime.
Gary –
You are so right! But, the Mint is sending out sets sent back by customers that aren’t damaged too badly, but still have minor problems. Sad situation! Many are getting sets in the mail recently that are have a variety of problems.
It looks like these sets may never sell out totally.

i take it, that a yes on s mint mark, it must be a secret, like you’ll have 1/8% better chance. smile*. I order,ed 3 enhanced sets, i have to sea the goop, iv’e read its inside & out, if its the outside shall, i have a plexzee glass solution for that type plastic, great stuff, i’m keeping them unless they are cracked or scar’d up.
I hope the mint destroys all the returned sets. At full mintage the 2017-S Lincoln cent is half the mintage of the 1909-S VDB and 1/4 of the 1877 Indian Cent. Possible future classic with this low mintage.
Saw Coin Vault the other night .. they’re hawking the EU set in OGP for like 47 bucks .. …. dunno what they were saying since I always mute the audio when I see these channels
Seth- I think you are right. The EU Sets look like they will not sell out. What I’ve seen they have been labeled “unavailable” or sold out twice. First on the first day of sale, then some orders were cancelled and they went back on sale. That lasted about a week and then back to “unavailable”. And now they are back on sale!! I don’t know when they went back on sell this last time but as of Sept. 23 they are still there. Some places are selling the sets with OGP for $50! I wish people knew what is… Read more »
