The United States Mint’s newest 5-ounce collectible was its best weekly seller. Celebrating the New Jersey portion of Ellis Island, the 3-inch coin launched on Sept. 7 for $149.95.
It moved out of the sales gate quicker than other issues released so far this year — even with two fewer days of totals in its first reported sales window. The silver coin logged four-day sales of 14,642 pieces.
For comparison, the last eight pieces opened with sales of:
- 13,740 coins for the 2017 Ozark Riverways 5 oz. (Missouri)

2017 s limited edition silver set mintage set at 50,000 thats more then any other set sold so far,but not too much more.2 limit per customer thats fair . wonder if they sellout . everybody wants that eagle.
Gary – The annual Limited Edition Silver Proof Set has been issued since 2012 (except none made in 2015) & have always had a mintage limit of 50,000 sets. They have never sold out all 50,000 sets in any of those years due to the high price & the fact that all the coins in the sets were available for sale separately (you are basically paying about a $35 premium for the fancy packaging). Seth the mint announced 139.95 yesterday on their product schedule. I see the mint only sold 1390 sets of the 10 coin 2017s enhanced set , that leaves roughly 33,000 sets to go for a sellout & CSN mike mezack is selling Lincoln pennies graded sp70 for 49.95 , on ebay there going between 40 & 50 bucks each and there selling too! This is a sleeper set if i ever saw one.
2017 Enhanced set now listed as “currently unavailable”. Wonder why??
Gary –
You are right about the Lincoln cent being very popular from the 2017-S EU set! In PCGS EU-70 I have seen them sell for $80 for the cent alone Amazing! Lincoln cent & Kennedy half dollar collectors are the most intense collectors of modern coins under $1 denomination for sure.
Happy collecting Gary!
