New Lunar coins highlight the line-up of collector products for October from the Perth Mint of Australia. They are joined by coins from the Polar Babies series, the gold Kangaroo series and the Endangered and Extinct series.
There is also a dragon-themed coin with a rotating pearl design and a collectible celebrating the 30th anniversary of the sci-fi television show Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Dragon and Pearl Silver Antiqued Coin
This coin’s reverse (tails side) design shows two dragons encircling the center of a rotating charm that has been crafted to resemble a pearl.
Adding to the unique nature of the release, each is produced with an antiqued finish. The 1oz, 99.99% pure silver coin has a maximum mintage of only 3,000.
Struck by The Perth Mint and carrying its ‘P’ mint mark, the collectible is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu.
Australian Lunar Year of the Dog Gold Proof Colored Coin
2018 is the Year of the Dog in the Chinese zodiac. The lunar year is celebrated with this 1oz, 99.99% pure gold coin which depicts a chocolate Labrador Retriever standing on rocks with a stylised pine tree in the background.
Above the Lab, we find the Chinese character for ‘dog’ with Year of the Dog inscribed below. Mintage limit is set at 3,000.
Year of the Dog Silver Colored Coin
The Chinese zodiac is celebrated further with the release of the new 2018 Lunar Year of the Dog Silver Proof Colored Coin. Limited to 9,000 pieces, each coin is composed of 1oz of 99.99% pure silver.
Shown on the reverse is a likeness of a German Shepherd and pup lying in grass with Chinese peony flowers in the background. The Chinese character for ‘dog’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Dog’ are also in the design.
Year of the Dog 1 oz Silver Typeset Collection
The Mint’s typeset collection includes four coins bearing the same design as above. The set has a gilded, coloured, proof and bullion coin.
Each is composed of one ounce of 99.99% pure silver. All appear together in a single Perth Mint display case with an issue limit of 1,500.
Star Trek: The Next Generation Crew Silver Proof Coin
The television show Star Trek: The Next Generation debuted in 1987 and that makes this year the show’s 30th anniversary. This 2oz, .9999 fine silver coin celebrates the milestone.
The coin’s reverse features the show’s main characters — Picard, Riker, Troi, La Forge, Crusher and Data. Above is a likeness of their ship. The Enterprise with a special 30th anniversary logo is below.
Mintage limit is 3,000. This is a Tuvalu legal tender coin.

Australian Kangaroo 2 oz Gold High Relief Coin
A limited amount of just 250 coins is made available for this piece. Each Kangaroo coin is struck to proof quality from two ounces of 99.99% pure gold.
The gold coin’s designs are created in high relief adding to their level of detail. This coin ships in a timber display case with an illustrated shipper.
Polar Babies – Sea Otter Silver Proof Coin
Appearing as the fifth and final release from the Polar Babies series, this new coin features a sea otter in colour.
Maximum mintage for the coin is capped at 5,000. Each Tuvalu legal tender piece is composed of 1/2oz of 99.99% pure silver.
Australian Citizenship $1 Coin in Card
The Perth Mint’s 2018-dated Australian Citizenship $1 is now. The aluminum bronze coin celebrates those who have become an Australian citizen with a reverse that shows the Australian Commonwealth Coat of Arms. It consists of the badges of the six States of the Commonwealth on a shield enclosed by an ermine border signifying Australian Federation in 1901.
Each coin comes attached to a presentation card that can fold out for upright display. This Australian dollar is minted to demand.
Endangered and Extinct Powerful Owl Silver Coin
The 2018 Powerful Own 1 oz Silver Proof Coin marks the eighth release in the Endangered and Extinct series. The program highlights creatures which are extinct or threatened animal species in Australia. This coin’s reverse depicts a Powerful Owl with a smaller owl flying in the background.
Mintage limit is 5,000 with each produced from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality. The collector coin is Tuvalu legal tender.
