Worldwide sales officially commenced Oct. 4 for the 2018 Australian Kookaburra Silver Bullion Coins.
The Perth Mint series of 99.99% silver coins features annually changing kookaburra designs, making them appealing to both investors and collectors. The reverse design for 2018 showcases a kookaburra in flight against a large harvest moon.
Produced in a brilliant uncirculated finish, the Perth Mint’s oldest bullion series debuted in 1990. The 2018-dated bullion coins are available in 1oz, 10oz, and 1 kilo sizes. There are no mintage limits for the two biggest issues but the smallest 1oz size is restricted to 500,000.
Inscriptions around the kookaburra and moon include AUSTRALIA KOOKABURRA, 2018, the coin’s weight of 1oz, 10oz or 1 KILO, 9999 SILVER, and the Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
Obverses offer the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Encircling the portrait are inscriptions of ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, and either 1 DOLLAR, 10 DOLLARS, or 30 DOLLARS.
