Sales of the closely watched 2017 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set dropped by 655 units for a new total of 49,314 sets, according to the latest figures from the United States Mint.
Released four weeks ago with virtually all 50,000 sets claimed within the first 32 hours, the U.S. Mint has been consolidating orders against returns and cancellations. In the prior two weekly sales reports, the set’s total had moved up by 26 and down by 25.
225th Anniversary Enhanced Uncirculated Sets seem closer to an official sellout. Since Friday evening, their order status has stuck to mostly unavailable. The sets were the U.S. Mint’s second strongest weekly seller.

2017 limited edition silver set back on sale ,that won’t last long
gary & Mike Unser –
I got the “reminder” e-mail that the 2017-S LESPS was available again this morning at 8:04am Central Time & ordered an extra one (I ordered 2 on first day of issue). Got lucky, because they sold out within a few minutes this morning! I have ordered all of these sets on first day since 2012 and like them as a presentation set.
Happy collecting everyone!

Seth
you got lucky on that one, and like you I have gotten all of the LESPS on first day and they are nice sets and they are pretty .

You are right for sure! They really are nice packaging & coins (although they stopped putting all the coins in that large hard plastic holder last year & I miss that feature). Some collectors think they are overpriced, but the 2 sets from 2012 that I got from the Mint have held good value over time. And, of course, the special “S” Mint mark ASE $1 coin in this year’s set is really a winner & low mintage too.

I got the “Reminder” also, but by the time I logged in they were gone.
Win some, lose some.
Why is this set so much more coveted than the 2016 set?

(which is still in stock) is it simply because the Eagle has the magic “S” mark?
Seth Riesling, I was lucky and getting another set because the first had little dots all over the Silver dollar and greasy fingerprints on the outside holder. The very nice lady on the phone told me that most of the people that returned there orders was out of luck and only getting a refund and looks like I will still get my order. I hope the set I get looks as nice as yours.

Glad you returned an obviously set with “problems” (maybe a return from another customer!) & are getting a replacement that will hopefully be a nice problem free set for your collection. It is a nice set for sure.
Happy collecting Nels!

Anyone else have those tiny dots (blackish) on the dollar? What are they?
NWRobert, can’t say mine were (blackish) but more milky. If I knew how to send you a picture from my iPad and if it was ok, I would.
TY Nels… my bad! blackish tiny spots were on the enhanced 225th American Liberty medal from the set of 4 silver medals. The other medals were fine. My 2017 Limited Ed. Silver Proof set is fine. Thanks again for your input!
Dam, first order tiny dots all over the silver dollar, 2nd order every coin has dots on them. I swear these coins are returns from people that bought many of them and picked through them and kept the best and returned the crappy coins. That’s why they brought them back 2 times already. I was told they don’t send out returns but I think that’s bull crap. Sorry USA MINT but from so many returned coins I have gotten and sent back and this one I had to pay postage to send it back I’m done collecting. Time to find… Read more »
The door is closed on this. I was the us mint web page this morning and it is SOLD OUT.
Does it make a difference from which set a coin comes from? I see coin shows selling burnished silver eagles from different mint sets and tryng to enhance the value based on the set the coin came from. All of the burnished coins from a specific year are the same and to me, it doesn’t make any difference from which set it was pulled. Additionally First Strike and Early Issue iare bullshit. The coins are minted weeks and months prior to release and are sold in no particular order
Just my opinion
This is a beautiful set its to bad to see that every coin has something wrong with it. The first set the silver dollar was messed up and had to pay to ship it back. I was supposed to get reimbursed but that never happened and all I did was get a much worse set with spots in every coin so I’m sure the set was already returned by someone else and took the best coins and returned the worst. I was tempted to return it but decided to keep it. At least I have a set but I’m not… Read more »
Pay the extra money to have the coins shipped by UPS only. The boxes don’t come all beat up like they do from the post office.
