The U.S. Mint’s latest sales report is abbreviated with the number of products listed down to 248 from 302. Most all of the missing products have not sold out so those should come back next week with refreshed totals.
One coin that is gone for good is the 2017-W $50 Uncirculated American Gold Eagle. Its sales hadn’t been moving a lot lately and the Mint pulled it from its catalog.
The Gold Eagle’s most recent triple digit sales gain happened in the week ended Oct. 15. Since that time, it has netted a combined sales increase of 32 coins. Its last reported sales dropped by 53 coins to 5,800 coins. That marks a new mintage low as it’s below the previous low of 5,829 coins for the 2012 issue.

Jp, those two coins go off-sale on Dec. 31 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

I got an email from the Mint labeled “LAST CHANCE” with a list of products no longer being sold after Dec. 2017. I think the date was the 28th. The Gold Walking Liberty and the Gold Standing Liberty are on that list.
I guess I had my date wrong.
It amazes me how two coins, possible new lows for the UNC AGE and 1/10th AGE, can sell out and then be immediately removed from the mint’s sales report while others, such as the 2016 Comm’s that can’t be sold, among others, still continue to be listed on the sales report. It usually takes about 3-4 weeks for final (unaudited) sales numbers to stabilize once any item either goes Currently Unavavailable or Sold Out.., though these two where instantly pulled within the week of SO (UNC AGE) or CU (1/10th AGE). Bizarre.., I suspect it’s the mint wanting to minimize… Read more »

Your observations about the Mint’s handling of sales numbers & audited/unaudited mintage numbers are spot on. They have been squirrelly for years! It typically takes the Mint about 2 years to release final, official mintage/sales figures. I think they still have accountants who use an abacus for calculations & write in paper accounting ledgers with a pencil & later a computer data entry person inputs the info at their leisure! Lol
Happy collecting!

Thanks Mike and Joera for the info.
Is there a reason why those coins can be sold until the end of Dec of 2017?
Doubtful they will ever sell out…
I think a coin should either only be sold in the year it is made available or 1 year from the date it was introduced.
That’s it.
Wow, the 2017W Uncirculated Gold Eagle is now the lowest mintage of the series. The 2012W was 5,829 and the 2017 finished at 5,800. I still don’t understand why the walking liberty hasn’t sold out. low mintage for sure.
Have fun!
I was looking threw the pages of my 2015 Blue Book to sea the price of the ungraded *AGE burnished fractional 1/10 oz. 1/4 oz. 1/2 oz., they were minted from 2006, 07, 2008, with the *w mint mark. The late great Robert Chambers of the coin vault TV show turned me on to them before they were minted in 2006, he was a world of information at times if you listen careful, Mike is also, but Mr. Chambers was the master of all of them. My fractional,s are all gone now, Chambers said these coins will be the ”… Read more »
