As expected, the U.S. Mint’s new proof American Silver Eagle was its best-selling numismatic product of the week.
Released last Thursday, Jan. 4, the .999 fine silver coin notched first-day sales of 229,926 pieces. It advanced by another 13,485 pieces over the weekend for a four-day total of 243,411 coins.

The U.S. Mint published sales data for 248 numismatic products. Nineteen outperformed their prior weekly gains compared to 206 previously. Not counting the new Silver Eagle so as to compare apples-to-apples, 3 products increased by more than 1,000 units, matching the last report.
In addition, 32 products saw their sales totals reduced compared to 3 previously. Most logged modest declines. The George Rogers Clark 5 oz. silver coin stood out with its drop of 345 pieces for a new total of 14,839.
Lastly, the U.S. Mint reported zero gains for most of the coins and sets that went off-sale late last year. There’s a good chance that they will be dropped soon from the Mint’s weekly reports.

My coin 2018 was $53.95 free shipping that is sent to me every year for this year. I’m not sure if you made a mistake saying $51.95 but that’s what was charged on my mc.
Nels, thank you! The price line was corrected.
Nels –
The 2018-W ASE $1 Proof coin is $55.95 this year, not $53.95 with free budget S&H ($4.95 value) on
all enrollments this year. If you were only charged $53.95 like last year & 2016 then you got it at the old price in error.
Happy collecting!

Nels – i’m not a crook or anything to that nature, but ”tight lip’s” unless they mailed you items you did not order for free. Let them figure there little bo, bo, out, they been nickel & dime,n us for years. Save that *U.S. Mint error statement that is rare, smile.
Either the mint fulfillment people are too weak-minded or just plain lazy but the product enrollment notice for my silver eagle had last years price on it while the actual delivery packing slip and the credit card billing were both the same and the currently announced 2018 price.
Good silver did not drop to $15 or they would have raised it $10!
The 2016-W Proof Silver Eagle in the Congratulations Set is selling for up to $2000 because of the low mintage of that set. But IT IS THE EXACT SAME AS THE OTHER 2016-W PROOF EAGLES.
Mike Mezack is calling the 2016 Congratulations Set Eagle the “NEW KING OF THE SILVER EAGLES” beating the 1995 Silver Eagle! I do not agree with that at all!
Mike Mezack – there’s three places you will go when your soul is put to rest or waste, or if your on very good terms with your maker you*ll have a first class pass to the stairway to HEAVEN*+*. No matter how ”you” look at it, theirs 639,154 -2016 W – American Proof Silver Eagles sold so far, & only 30,125 – 1995 W American Proof Silver Eagles minted. Cut the ””BS”’ will ya! save your self, your starting to burn yourself out, give it all up to your maker before it’s to late. You have so much knowledge to… Read more »
I paid $55.95 for my proof 2018 silver eagle, with free shipping. I don’t know how other collectors paid lower prices, but in the enrollment program, shipping is free and the current price is $55.95. I also agree that the TV hucksters are selling the coins based upon packaging. I wonder if dealers in the future will buy these coins at the prices the collectors paid. . The 1995 w ASE is unique due to its mint mark, not the package
