Bellwether United States Mint annual products reclaimed the top sales slots without any new releases last week to offer competition.
The clad 2019 Proof Set with its bonus Lincoln cent was the Mint’s best weekly seller, rising by 5,541 for a four-month total of 357,933.
By comparison, last year’s set through its first four months reached sales of 275,898. It took nearly seven months for it top the 360,000 level.

- 2019 Birth Set (+512 to 14,442)
- 2019 America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set (+383 to 55,283)
- 2019 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set (+370 to 58,931)
In its latest report, the U.S. Mint published sales data for 155 numismatic products. Forty-one of them outperformed their prior weekly gains against 52 previously. Five products increased by more than 1,000 units against 7 previously.
In addition, 3 products saw their sales reduced compared to 1 previously. The one big loser for the week was the 2019-W Uncirculated Silver Eagle. Its total tumbled 6,361 to 105,954.

2019 W Burnished ASE declined nearly 6,400 units? What would cause more than a 6% adjustment in a newly issued coin?
When similar coins are submitted to certain grading companies in mass, you can choose to only have higher graded coins, i.e. MS 69s and 70s, graded and encapsulated. The others are returned for a nominal fee, $5 I believe. My guess is that these coins are being returned to the mint to later be sold to unsuspecting customers. This is why I only purchase from the mint on the first day of issue. Just my 2 cents…
The mint shouldn’t be allowed to do that, its robbery one buyer buys 20,000 burnished silver eagles then sends back 6,000 sp69’s and sells the others for $150.00 apiece plus shipping & handling . Its insane to let big companies do that. The mint should sell only encapsulated 70″s that should be why we pay a premium.
