Core 2020-dated United States Mint products registered the most sales during the week ending Aug. 2, led by the 2020-W Proof Silver Eagle with its increase of 7,969 for a total of 316,695 coins.
The collectible was also the U.S. Mint’s strongest seller a week earlier, when it topped the 300,000 mark through six months of sales. Last year’s edition ended with individual sales of 345,380 coins.
Additional 2019-S Enhanced Reverse Proof Silver Eagles
Elsewhere, and not reflected in the sales data below because it happened on Wednesday, Aug. 4, the U.S. Mint sold 97 units of the 2019-S Enhanced Reverse Proof Silver Eagle.
Released Nov. 14, the 30,000-limited coin quickly sold, became unavailable, and is now realizing a tidy sum in the secondary market.
The Mint sent news editors the following statement about the coins that sold which also indicates another small number of them will become available soon:
"Due to high demand for the American Eagle 2019 One Ounce Silver Enhanced Reverse Proof Coin (product 19XE), the United States Mint wanted to ensure that all sellable inventory was made available to the public for sale. A total of 97 units recently became available due to order cancellations. As transactions were cancelled, the product was inventoried and inspected per Mint standard processes.
Today the Mint was working to move the inventory in our system to prepare it for sale. During that process, an error was made and the product was made available for sale via the Mint’s website and immediately sold out. All 97 coins were sold this morning. Our ‘Remind Me’ features automatically activated and we notified 43,127 people via SMS, and 30,907 people via email about the availability of this product. We expect another small number of units to become available for sale in the coming days. They will be placed on the Mint’s website as they become available."

intentional “error” or unintentional “error”? How many orders account for the 97 sold? Sure hope 97 collectors got them and not dealers,flippers,and/or mint personnel.
The whole thing sounds fishy to me – stinks as bad as the initial sale…..
“an error was made and the product was made available for sale via the Mint’s website and immediately sold out…. We expect another small number of units to become available for sale in the coming days. They will be placed on the Mint’s website as they become available.“ HUH???
Exactly, huh? I was thinking the same thing. What was the error they made? Did the mint not want to release the inventory they had as it became available the other day, and yet now the Mint wants to release them as they become available? Huh?
Received test message that these were in stock again. I forgot what it was for and dismissed it. My bad luck! The message said 19XE had no clue.
MY BAD TOO….it gave no description. message received at 6am pacific time…… great so east coasters get them while most of west is still asleep. US mint really has no sense of plaaanning ……sux!
Do you honestly think you or I had a chance of getting one?? This was rigged as was the initial release.
Now that you mention it, “rigged”, Im suspicious of the revised release date of the 75th anniversary ww2 proof coins. The mint also added two medals and a 24k gold coin in one of the schedule updates, at least I don’t remember all of those listed earlier this year.
As soon as I received the message, I accessed their site and it was unavailable. Either they sent it out after the fact to cover the fact that they sold some or I was just too slow
Do not worry not “bad luck”, the way I read it, they were gone before the notices were sent out .
I agree. I happened to be on the site when I got the text notice, just had to click on the item and they were not available.
Got the message too. Did anyone get one?
i got the message too but i deleted it,no longer interested in that FUBAR!
This is not how we make America Great Again. It’s time to throw the old, inadequate online sales system out and support the Mint with qualified “non-error-producing” staffing and procedures.
WHAT?!?! This kind of thing should be stopped! If it was say days after because of cancelled orders then sell them as soon as possible with enough time given to everybody a chance. People wondered what happen to the rest of the unsold 2019-S Eagles. Well the Mint should have answered that question in that same year, not the next year. Give a timely notice of future sales. And make them available soon after.
U.S. Mint Director David J. Ryder is an abject failure as a manager of the largest Mint in the world! He had experience in the same position under old President Bush for a short term, and I expected good things from him, but he has caused so many different problems it is unbelievable! He definitely favors the coin dealers & bulk purchasers, especially since the Mint’s customer list has gone from 1.2 million people in 2014 to under 300,000 now! (And most of the current customers just purchase the annual clad & silver Proof sets & annual Uncirculated coins Mint… Read more »
agree 100%.this guy knows not what he is doing.
1.2 million down to 300,000 is a BIG difference and should tell the Mint that something is wrong and changes NEED to take place. What would happen if a non government company had the same practices as the US Mint? At the least an investigation!
Trump does not give a little p00p about collectors or the MINT. It appears that the profiteering blowing about our Gov’t is in the mint as well. So many ‘mistakes.” Beyond all else w/a mintage limint how in the world do they sell the unsold junk, it’s junk cause it f$ up the value of what we hold. They treat their base like dog sheet
Seems to me that a GAO audit of the Mint is way overdue. Does anyone know how to get one started??
Mike Mezack and his 11 dealer buddies had some poor quality returns!!! the rest went to ebay!!!! Still the “KING”.
Fuk’in liars @ USMINT a “mistake” yeah and it’s only a cold sore. Who got them, why not stop sales as they were not authorized. We can’t we already ca$her Mr. Mezak’s check……………… INVESTIGATE this COINGATE 2020!!!
The “accidental” sale happened BEFORE we got the availability EMAIL…loverly
I just got a text message for availability.
I clicked on the link, and they’re not available.
