Precious metals posted gains Tuesday that ranged from 0.1% for gold and 3.9% for palladium. Gold and silver ended at two-week highs.
Gold for December delivery rose $2.50 to settle at $1,966.20 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. The settlement was the highest since Sept. 1.
Gold futures ranged from a low of $1,955.60 to a high of $1,982.40. They gained 0.8% on Monday.
Silver for December delivery finished up 10.9 cents, or 0.4%, to $27.464 an ounce. Like for gold, the close was also the highest since Sept. 1. Silver futures traded between $27.19 and $27.87. They moved up 1.9% on Monday.

October platinum advanced $23.50, or 2.5%, to $982.20 an ounce, ranging from $960.60 to $984.
- Palladium for December delivery surged $90.10 to $2,414.50 an ounce, trading between $2,316.80 and $2,454.60.

In comparing earlier fixed London gold and silver prices from Monday PM to Tuesday PM:
- Gold declined $9.35, or 0.5%, to $1,949.35 an ounce.
- Silver gained 66 cents, or 2.5%, to $27.545 an ounce.
